The sky burned over Manhattan, as if the city itself had set the heavens ablaze. The Empire State Building stood tall, unchallenged - Below, the streets hummed with the glow of incandescence across the East River.
When I think of New York, it's this skyline I see: the Empire State, steadfast holding the last of the sunset in it's silhouette, NYC 2011

The morning air clung thick and damp, over the patchwork fields. Sunlight bled through the mist, soft, diffused, gilding the distant tree line where the world dissolved into a blur.
The earth above the dunes of Loon and Drunen exhaled the scent of wet soil and crushed grass, and for a moment, the horizon hovered untethered. Drunen, NL 2017
